Lives in the Upper East Side, NYC
When I first met Tatiana, she was the Lifestyle Editor for Self Magazine and an accomplished author. She had a gentle, easy going spirit, but little did I know that inside a strong and passionate fire was burning.
People say they want to change all the time, but very few people are willing to take the necessary steps to actually make change. Tatiana is one of those few people. Three years ago, when then this portrait was taken, Tatiana was already an inspirational and beautiful woman, but today she has transformed her entire being into a self-sufficient, strong and empowered woman. It didn't come easy. Through hard work and dedication, Tatiana is living her best life physically and mentally through powerful training and a balanced diet. On her journey, she found her calling, and discovered that she had a strong desire to help women like herself get stronger, mentally and physically, through weight lifting and healthy eating, which led her to create Sculptologie.
In her words, her approach is to get women to stop fighting with their bodies by trying to make themselves smaller and less significant and flip it: build up, nourish yourself, and claim your rightful power and freedom in this world. Tatiana wants to challenge the way we talk about the feminine form and how we think about what femininity truly is. It's been truly empowering to witness her powerful shift. What do you consider your greatest achievements?
Tatiana: I’m a very achievement oriented person. I think my greatest achievements are my 3 children. I think it’s almost like a gift from God. They are not things, that I have to strive and study and work really hard to get for myself like my novels or the articles that I publish, my children just came to me and of course I had to carry them for those 9 months and it’s a lot of work to have them, but I’m so proud of them.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Tatiana: I think my greatest extravagance is taking time to workout every day; not every day, but five days a week. I wish I could work out every day but I have to give my body some rest. It just gives me such a tremendous joy and I feel so in touch with my body . . . it makes me happy when I’m running and feeling strong.
How would you like to die?
Tatiana: (Laughter…) So it’s a very negative thought I guess, a little morbid but I actually like to think about that because a good death is a good thing to inspire towards in a way and I would love to be surrounded by my family. That’s what I want; my children and my family! My mother always says to me when she died she just wanted to hear our voices (my sister, my voice) whispering in her ear that we loved her.
If heaven exists, what would you like God to say when you arrive at the gate
Tatiana: I think I would like him to say you did well. You lived a good life, you tried very hard to make the best of everything. Once I had a swimming coach who always says at the end of the season: “Tatiana, she always has a smile in her face no matter what I tell her to do, whatever practice we are doing, she always has a good attitude. I would like for God to acknowledge the same; he asked a lot of me in this lifetime but I have always done everything he asked of me with a smile on my face
